The WaveMon RF-8 and WaveMon RF-60 offer simultaneous alarms for instant and average values with a dynamic range of 1000%.

Regular personal RF monitors or exposimeters emit an alarm when they detect electromagnetic fields over permitted levels: this is known as instant values. The WaveMon RF-8 and WaveMon RF-60 also calculate average values.

What is the difference between these values? Instant values are the electromagnetic levels the sensors of the personal RF monitor detect. The average of these levels over a predetermined period of time are what we call average values.

Dynamic range of up to 1000%

The WaveMon is the only personal RF monitor with a dynamic range of up to 1000%. When it is detecting EMF, its sensors accurately measure, without saturating, spikes of up to 1000% over established limits. This allows the device to accurately calculate average values while reading large increases of levels in instant values.

Average values are extremely important for RF safety. In fact, international standards such as ICNIRP 2020, EU Directive 2013/35/EU, FCC, Safety Code 6, etc. are based on average values. Exposure to high RF levels for short periods is not necessarily dangerous for the RF worker; this is why limits are based on the average levels of exposure over certain time.

Thanks to WaveMon RF-8 and RF-60, the RF worker can keep working if safety limits are not exceeded, even if there are occasional spikes over 100% of instant values.

WaveMon RF-8 and WaveMon RF-60 user-configurable alarms

WaveMon RF-8 and WaveMon RF-60 allow the user to configure different alerts based on instant and average values. This feature helps the user to avoid overexposure to EMF. The device will emit an alarm, vibrate and flash red LEDs to clearly alert the user.
